[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] Kim Jae-won, Supreme Council Member of the People Power Party, recently came to defend the shaman controversy surrounding Yoon Seok-yeol's presidential campaign. Regarding the suspicion that the daughter of Jeon, known as Geonjin Beopsa, once worked at an event planned by Kim Geon-hee, he said, "It could have happened over those years."
Earlier, Kim Eui-gyeom, a member of the Open Democratic Party, claimed that Jeon's daughter, who graduated from the photography department of an art university in Seoul, had a long-standing connection with Kim. On the 19th, on TBS Radio's 'Kim Eo-jun's News Factory,' he asserted that Jeon's daughter worked as staff at an event planned by Kim in 2013, saying, "(It has been) 9 years since the event," and speculated, "Since it continued until recently, it was quite a close relationship."
In response, on the 20th, Supreme Council Member Kim stated in an interview with KBS Radio's 'Choi Kyung-young's Strong Current Affairs,' "Upon checking, at that time, Kobana Contents, Kim's company, held a large exhibition, and Jeon's daughter, who majored in photography, volunteered and went there. That's the story, but (the exhibition) was attended by the entire photography department students."
When the host asked, "So you mean it was a coincidence?" Kim replied, "Rather than a coincidence, it could have happened over those years. To raise suspicions and talk as if there was a significant connection," and added, "Also, what did Kim Eui-gyeom say? But I have never found anything he said to be credible."
Furthermore, Supreme Council Member Kim claimed that the ruling party's excessive political attacks are behind the 'shaman controversy' surrounding candidate Yoon, including the palm 'king (王)' character controversy, Cheongong Master, and Geonjin Beopsa. He said, "Most of what is being talked about now are either suspicions, untrue facts, or even malicious attacks and tactics continuing the narrative you mentioned."
He continued, "Regarding the use of the 'king (王)' character on the palm, a neighborhood grandmother, a supporter, wrote it, and it was hard to erase, so it was just taken along, and that has nothing to do with the people involved now," adding, "The person called Geonjin Beopsa is someone Yoon does not know at all. That day, he just joined the New Year's party of the Network Headquarters within the campaign headquarters."
Also, Supreme Council Member Kim argued that the appearance of Yoon having a close relationship with Jeon was a misunderstanding. He said, "When such people come to places like the campaign office and act very close to the candidate, the candidate comes to see them as someone who helps him," and "Especially since Yoon has not been very active in politics, he does not know well who approaches him, and conversely, those inside think, 'Oh, that person seems close to the candidate,' so they misunderstand each other."
