[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 20th that, following high user satisfaction with the ‘Emergency Sanitary Pad Vending Machines’ installed last year in three youth culture centers within the city, it will operate four additional machines this year.
The city stated that sanitary pad vending machines will be installed free of charge in the women’s restrooms of Jinhae Youth Center, Jinhae Youth Training Center, Bongnim Youth Training Center, and Jinhae Youth Camp, all youth training facilities.
The vending machines were prepared to alleviate difficulties faced by female youth who may not have sanitary pads prepared during daily life and to guarantee healthy menstrual rights.
In particular, the machines are installed in facilities frequently used by youth to allow female adolescents, who may be sensitive during this period, to use them conveniently and without burden.
No Mal-nam, Director of the Child and Youth Division, said, “We hope that the free sanitary pad vending machines will allow female youth with irregular menstrual cycles to use them conveniently and without burden,” adding, “We will continue to make efforts to improve the health rights and welfare of female youth.”
