An's unification: "I wish they had talked about their own policies and vision"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] On the 20th, Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, stated regarding Hong Joon-pyo's demand for a strategic nomination to presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol, "We have decided to prioritize nominations based on opinion polls."
Before attending the People Power Party Gyeongbuk Campus General Assembly and the Daegu City Party and Gyeongbuk Provincial Party University Student Committee meeting that day, Lee told reporters that this decision was made at the Supreme Council meeting on the 17th to prevent conflicts among party members, adding, "If there is a change in the policy, political compromises among the relevant parties will be necessary, but the process does not seem easy."
When asked whether he had discussed this with candidate Yoon, he replied, "Secretary-General Kwon Young-se coordinated opinions with the candidate during the discussion process, and at the Supreme Council meeting, those who participated almost unanimously agreed," adding, "I understand the candidate has been informed of this."
Regarding unification with Ahn Cheol-soo, candidate of the People’s Party, he said, "As far as I know, no one within our party is promoting or considering this," and added, "It seems that Representative Ahn is trying to stir up the atmosphere for his own political purposes, but I hope he would talk about policies and visions."
