[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] The Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters (Chief Park Geun-oh) is conducting emergency fire safety inspections at new construction sites across the province following a series of major accidents at construction sites recently.
According to the Jeju Fire Headquarters on the 20th, this inspection is a special fire investigation conducted jointly with related organizations such as the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency at 73 construction sites with a total floor area of over 3,000㎡ until the 25th of next month.
By the 25th, a full inspection is being carried out on 33 logistics warehouse construction sites in the province in connection with the fire at the Pyeongtaek logistics warehouse construction site, along with emergency fire safety inspections and fire safety consulting.
The day before, Park Geun-oh, Chief of the Fire Safety Headquarters, visited the Wimi Port refrigerated and frozen warehouse facility construction site in Namwon-eup and the Jungmun lodging facility construction site to conduct special inspections and check safety management conditions.
Chief Park Geun-oh said, “Large construction sites frequently handle fire sources such as welding and contain many hazardous materials, making them vulnerable to fire and other safety accidents. Moreover, since many workers are present, these incidents can lead to large-scale casualties. I urge everyone to exercise special caution regarding fire and to thoroughly manage safety.”
