[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Genesis BBQ was featured for about 4 minutes on Florida's 'FOX 35 Orlando,' a Fox News affiliate in the United States, as a popular K-chicken brand among locals amid the recent Korean Wave, the company announced on the 20th.
The broadcast, aired throughout Florida, introduced Korean-style fried chicken, which has recently been spotlighted as one of the most desired Korean foods, and covered the first Florida location, BBQ East Colonial.
David Martin, the reporter who hosted the broadcast, said, "One of the most beloved foods among Americans is fried chicken," adding, "Recently, a Korean brand store capturing the flavors of Korea has opened in Florida." Visiting the BBQ store, he explained the store, the taste of the products, and popular menu items, highlighting BBQ's unique qualities and popularity.
BBQ store manager Andrew Lee introduced the products, noting that Korean-style chicken differs from American-style chicken with its sweet and spicy sauce, crispy exterior, and moist interior. He pointed out that the most popular menu among locals is the half-and-half menu consisting of BBQ's signature 'Hwanggeum Olive Original' and 'Secret Spicy Chicken,' recommending that those who want to experience the "most Korean" taste in the U.S. should try this menu. In particular, he mentioned that the Honey Garlic Wings captivate local tastes with BBQ's unique sweet soy sauce and garlic.
BBQ currently operates in 18 states across the U.S., including major regions such as New York, New Jersey, California, Texas, and Hawaii.
A BBQ representative stated, "BBQ is establishing itself as a representative brand of K-food beyond K-chicken in the U.S.," adding, "Building on this momentum, we plan to accelerate efforts to achieve our goal of opening 50,000 franchise stores worldwide by 2025 as a global dining brand."
