Jamface Surpasses 1 Million Users in AR Personal Color Diagnosis

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Jamface, a domestic video beauty curation platform, announced on the 19th that the cumulative number of users who experienced the 'Personal Color Matching' service, launched in September last year, surpassed 1 million within 4 months. The cumulative usage count exceeded 1.39 million times.

'Personal Color' refers to the unique physical colors of each individual, such as skin tone, hair color, and eye color. It is broadly classified into four types: Spring Warm Tone, Summer Cool Tone, Autumn Warm Tone, and Winter Cool Tone.

'Personal Color Matching' is a service that, unlike the traditional offline-centered personal color diagnosis, utilizes augmented reality (AR) virtual makeup technology. Users can virtually apply various lip colors to their faces using a selfie camera and select the colors that suit them best, and AI (artificial intelligence) analyzes and informs them of the tone most similar among 12 detailed tone types.

According to Jamface, the personal color type most common among the MZ generation was 'Autumn Warm True' at 22.8%. 'Summer Cool True' and 'Spring Warm True' ranked second and third with 18.4% and 18.2%, respectively, followed by 'Winter Cool True' at 10.4%.

The company explained, "Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it became difficult to test cosmetics colors in offline stores, leading to a surge in consumers gathering product information through online platforms. To reduce the risk of purchase failure, consumers often search for products based on their personal color or make purchase decisions mainly on products recommended or favored by people with the same personal color type."

In fact, since launching the personal color diagnosis service, the number of cosmetic searches and the number of times users saved products of interest on the Jamface app increased more than 7 times and 24 times, respectively. The average daily views of YouTuber reviews also increased more than 4 times compared to before.

Yoon Jeong-ha, CEO of Jamface, stated, "Along with the core service 'YouTuber Reviews,' we plan to strengthen recommendation services based on each user's characteristics, preferences, and interests through 'Face Matching,' which finds similar YouTubers using AI technology, and 'PerColor Matching,' which uses AR technology."
