[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Lee Byeongno, director of Damyang New Vision Research Institute, who is expected to run for Damyang County Governor in Jeollanam-do in the nationwide local elections this June, held a book launch event at Damyang Sports Complex on the 18th.
Lee, who served as the former Director of the Autonomous Innovation Bureau of Damyang County and demonstrated exemplary conduct during his 40 years of public service, is now interpreted to have embarked on a full-scale campaign for the Damyang County Governor election, entering the main track.
In particular, it is anticipated that through this book launch event titled “Lee Byeongno’s Dream, Lee Byeongno’s Challenge,” the interest and affection of Damyang residents will continue.
The event was attended by National Assembly members from Damyang, including Lee Gaeho and Choi Hyungsik, Damyang County Governor, as well as Jo Oseop and Yoon Youngdeok, the floor deputy leader.
Congratulatory messages from Kim Seungnam, chairman of the Democratic Party Jeonnam Provincial Committee, and videos introducing Director Lee by Damyang residents who have had ties with him were shown, creating a warm atmosphere.
Kim Gyusik, Lee Byeongno’s mentor, introduced his disciple, saying, “He is the only disciple who has maintained a strong filial piety by never missing Teacher’s Day greetings throughout his life as a teacher and student. He was a strong leader and exemplary student during his school days, and I believe that his character will continue as he will do much for Damyang County in the future.”
Before the main event, the pre-ceremony performances featured diverse presentations including Seol Janggu by the Udo Nongak Preservation Society composed of artists from Damyang, soprano No Youngju’s performance, poetry recitations by Im Gyeonghee of the Damyang Writers Association, the scholar’s dance by master dancer Woo Hangun, and poetry recitations by poet Cha Sangyoung.
After a video introducing Director Lee as an author was played, the book launch event proceeded with a talk show with the author. To comply with safer quarantine guidelines, the event was held twice, dividing attendees into morning and afternoon sessions, and was evaluated as a relatively safe event with interim disinfection measures.
During the talk show, Director Lee said, “A positive attitude toward life is a precious mindset inherited from my parents who are approaching their hundredth year, and I always live with a grateful heart. Now, I will join hands with the residents of Damyang to open a new horizon where beautiful flowers can bloom.”
Meanwhile, Director Lee, who has been recognized for his career by receiving the Order of Service Merit (Presidential) and the Model Public Official Commendation (Prime Minister), has held various key positions in Damyang County and was awarded the Grand Prize in the regional category at the Korea Regional Development Awards last year.
