Gwangju Nambu Fire Station Announces Installation of Vehicle Fire Extinguishers at Vehicle Inspection Centers and More

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Nambu Fire Station of Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 19th that it conducted guidance and promotion for equipping vehicle fire extinguishers at automobile inspection centers in the jurisdiction.

Vehicle fire extinguishers are mandated to be installed in vehicles with 7 or more seats according to the "Regulations on Performance and Standards of Automobiles and Automobile Parts," but starting this December, the revised Article 11 of the "Act on Installation and Management of Firefighting Facilities" will require fire extinguishers to be installed in all vehicles including those with 5 seats.

Vehicle fires that mainly occur during operation spread quickly due to combustible materials such as various fuels and oils, so early suppression is very important. Therefore, all drivers must equip vehicle fire extinguishers at the driver's seat or passenger seat for quick use in case of fire.

Accordingly, the Nambu Fire Station encouraged drivers' voluntary interest and participation in equipping vehicle fire extinguishers by placing vehicle fire extinguisher notices, distributing promotional materials, and conducting safety education on how to use fire extinguishers at three locations including the Gwangju Inspection Center in Songam-dong.

Kim Haeng-mo, Director of Prevention and Safety Division, said, "If initial firefighting is carried out when a vehicle fire occurs, major damage can be prevented. We hope all citizens equip vehicle fire extinguishers, a reliable safety device, to prevent fires."
