Amid Ongoing Shaman Controversies... Yoon Disbands Network Headquarters
[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Amid ongoing controversy surrounding the so-called 'shaman involvement' related to Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, on the 18th, Kim Nam-guk, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, raised his voice, saying, "Whenever something related to shamanism happens to candidate Yoon, it is always difficult to know the truth. What is the truth?"
Kim, who serves as the head of the online communication team for Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party's presidential candidate, posted on his Facebook on the same day a message titled "Yoon Seok-yeol’s inconsistent false explanations, will he again visit church holding a Bible over the weekend?" expressing these concerns.
Kim opened by saying, "There was a report that a shaman named Jeon, known as 'Geonjin Beopsa,' was working as an adviser in Yoon’s campaign headquarters and was involved in recruiting talent. A campaign official mentioned that Jeon personally interviewed key talents before their joining was decided, and seemed to have a status above that of a department head due to his close relationship with candidate Yoon."
He continued, "After this report, a People Power Party official dismissed it, saying, 'Candidate Yoon said he had never seen Geonjin Beopsa in person.' However, another report revealed that Yoon admitted to meeting him once or twice through an acquaintance and that he was introduced as a Buddhist."
Kim pointed out, "This is similar to when candidate Yoon appeared at the People Power Party presidential debate with the character '王 (Wang)' written on his palm. At that time, he gave a hard-to-believe explanation that a neighbor lady wrote the '王' character as a sign of support. Yet even that was mishandled within the campaign, with some spokespersons fumbling and giving inconsistent 'false explanations' such as 'it didn’t wash off because he washed mainly his fingers,' causing confusion."

He addressed candidate Yoon, asking, "Exactly how many shamans do you have serving you? The shaman controversy is not limited to Geonjin Beopsa. There is also Master Cheongong." He added, "Master Cheongong, who has been reported in the media as Yoon’s mentor, said he met Yoon two or three times, but Yoon explained during the People Power Party presidential debate that he does not usually meet such people. This also seems like an unbelievable false explanation."
Furthermore, he said, "Candidate Yoon always tries to hide his intense 'love for shamanism' with lies. I hope he stops making false explanations that will be quickly exposed and instead openly reveals the truth." He sarcastically added, "I hope he absolutely refrains from visiting church again this week holding a Bible."
In conclusion, Kim stated, "The public has the right to know and vote on whether there will be a second national scandal like the previous state affairs manipulation." He continued, "I hope that during his time as Prosecutor General, candidate Yoon did not make important decisions by consulting shamans because he did not know well himself. If such things continue, it would be a second national scandal and truly a national disaster."
Earlier, a media outlet raised suspicions that Jeon, known as 'Geonjin Beopsa,' a shaman, worked as an adviser in the People Power Party’s campaign network headquarters, directing staff.
As the controversy grew, the People Power Party’s campaign headquarters decided to disband the network headquarters. Regarding this, campaign headquarters chief Kwon Young-se said the reason for disbanding the network headquarters was "to firmly block unnecessary and malicious misunderstandings spreading about candidate Yoon," expressing the intention to block the 'shaman controversy.'
He added, "We will continue to take measures to remove any malicious misunderstandings or rumors that could harm candidate Yoon in the future."
