Gyeongnam Office of Education Selected as Best in Anti-Corruption Policy Evaluation

Gyeongnam Office of Education Selected as Best in Anti-Corruption Policy Evaluation Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education awarded the highest grade in the anti-corruption policy evaluation.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Saerom] The Gyeongnam Office of Education received the highest grade, improving by three levels from the previous year, in the '2021 Anti-Corruption Policy Evaluation' conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.

The Anti-Corruption Policy Evaluation is a system conducted annually since 2002 by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission to enhance the integrity level of the public sector, evaluating anti-corruption activities and achievements autonomously pursued by public institutions at all levels.

Targeting 274 public institutions nationwide, the evaluation assessed anti-corruption policies implemented from November 2020 to October last year across seven tasks: establishment of anti-corruption plans, expansion of participation in integrity policies, establishment of anti-corruption systems, efforts to eliminate corruption risks, operation of anti-corruption systems, achievements of anti-corruption policies, and efforts to spread anti-corruption policies, grading them from level 1 to 5.

The Gyeongnam Office of Education received perfect scores in two evaluation areas: establishment of anti-corruption systems and operation of anti-corruption systems, and high scores in two other areas: achievements of anti-corruption policies and efforts to spread anti-corruption policies.

To strongly eradicate corruption and misconduct and establish public service discipline, the Gyeongnam Office of Education launched the 'Direct Integrity Hotline to the Superintendent' as a corruption and misconduct reporting hotline in January last year, actively promoting anti-corruption plans including direct communication with complainants.

Auditor Lee Minjae stated, “Achieving the highest grade in the Anti-Corruption Policy Evaluation is the result of anti-corruption reforms tailored to the expectations of education consumers and the proactive commitment of all teaching staff,” adding, “We will continue to strive together with the educational community to establish integrity as a culture.”
