Kwon Nam-joo, Former Vice President, Appointed as New CEO of KAMCO... "Strengthening Crisis Response Capabilities"

[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] KAMCO (Korea Asset Management Corporation) appointed former Vice President Kwon Nam-joo as its new president on the 18th.

At the inauguration ceremony held at the Busan International Finance Center (BIFC) on the same day, newly appointed President Kwon Nam-joo said, “I feel a heavy responsibility as president at this important time marking the 60th anniversary of KAMCO’s founding,” and emphasized, “I will devote all my efforts to further solidify the status of KAMCO as a public asset management institution and to continuously move forward without pause.”

President Kwon explained, “We must take the lead in overcoming the prolonged COVID-19 crisis by strengthening crisis response capabilities, and carry out key projects such as the purchase fund for individual delinquent loans and corporate support programs without any setbacks to serve as a driving force for crisis recovery. In addition, to promote balanced growth across all business sectors including households, corporations, and the public sector, we need to advance the business portfolio and focus our capabilities on enhancing expertise to improve execution.”

He also urged, “We must thoroughly prepare to wisely respond to changes such as the 4th Industrial Revolution and develop the capabilities to lead future innovation.”

In particular, President Kwon emphasized, “We will practice strict ethical management that meets the public’s expectations and advance a company-wide safety management system based on the top priority principle of safety management,” and added, “We will expand win-win cooperation for regional community development and lead win-win management and ESG management (Environment, Social, Governance).”

He continued, “The driving force for KAMCO’s leap forward as a 100-year company is the harmony and unity of its members,” and stated, “Through free and active communication among executives and employees, we will derive work improvements and business achievements, and create fair systems and cultures so that employees’ efforts and hard work are properly rewarded.”

President Kwon joined KAMCO during the IMF crisis in 1998 and has served as head of the NPL Acquisition Strategy Office, director of the Talent Management Department, standing director, and until May last year, as vice president.
