D.H. La Classe Art Installation 'Cloud Walk' Wins Prestigious Award
Hyundai Construction announced on the 18th that it won the grand prize at the ‘2021 USA Good Design Awards’ for the artistic facility ‘Cloud Walk Pavilion’ (hereinafter Cloud Walk) of ‘The H Laclas’.
The ‘USA Good Design Awards’ is the world’s oldest design competition held since 1950, judged in collaboration between the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in the United States and the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies. Hyundai Construction was the only domestic construction company to receive an award in this competition.
Cloud Walk, an artistic facility installed in the landscaping space of ‘The H Laclas’ located in Seocho-gu, Seoul, was created through the collaboration of world-renowned pattern designer Karel Martens from the Netherlands and Korean architect Choi Jang-won. Shaped like a cloud, it serves as both an ornamental sculpture and a resting place. The design features unique patterns and is structurally realized to allow a sense of openness to the sky even from the ground. Previously, it was recognized for its artistic value by winning the A+ Product Award from Architizer in the United States last year.
Hyundai Construction proposes collaborative works with various artists at its high-end brand The H sites. Representative examples include the artistic playground (Tasted Flight) of The H Honor Hills created in collaboration with British spatial artist Cinta Tantra, the specialized exterior walls of The H Forecent, the world’s first playground ‘Our Dad’s Playground’ at The H Xi Gaepo by world-renowned children’s book author Anthony Browne, and the media gate ‘Tangent 22’ by Professor Park Je-sung.
Through these efforts, Hyundai Construction has recently been recognized not only for its construction capabilities but also globally in the design field by consecutively winning major domestic and international design competitions such as the ‘iF Design Award,’ ‘IDEA Design Award,’ and selection by the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA).
A Hyundai Construction official said, "Winning the 2021 USA Good Design Award once again recognized the world-class artistry of Hyundai Construction’s apartment projects," adding, "We will continue to do our best to expand everyday art that customers can experience in their living spaces."
