Gwangjin-gu Opens Applications for Hazardous Tree Maintenance Around Residential Areas

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) has started the ‘Living Area Hazardous Tree Maintenance Project,’ which safely trims hazardous trees on private property, and is accepting applications for target sites until the 21st.

This project was launched for the first time this year to support the removal and pruning of hazardous trees located in detached houses, daycare centers, senior centers, schools, etc., which residents find difficult to maintain individually.

To this end, the district enacted the "Seoul Special City Gwangjin-gu Urban Greening Support Ordinance" in October last year. This year, applications for target sites will be accepted twice, in the first and second half of the year, and after on-site inspections, the feasibility of support will be determined, and maintenance projects will be carried out sequentially.

Hazardous trees include ▲broken trees ▲rotten or dead trees ▲trees at risk of falling ▲cases where trees are expected to cause damage to traffic, passage, or facilities.

Eligible applicants are ▲detached and multi-family housing excluding apartments ▲daycare centers ▲senior centers ▲schools of all levels. However, sites for simple pruning or tree removal for purely aesthetic purposes unrelated to the project’s intent, or those without consent forms from owners or household members, are excluded.

Applications for the first half of this year are accepted until the 21st. Residents wishing to apply can visit their local community service center or the Gwangjin-gu Office’s Parks and Greenery Division. For more details, contact the Parks and Greenery Division or refer to the district website.

Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “Through this project, we hope to actively resolve residents’ concerns and inconveniences and enrich greenery throughout the region.”

Gwangjin-gu Opens Applications for Hazardous Tree Maintenance Around Residential Areas

Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) is the first in Seoul to support the cost of photographing a baby’s first birthday.

The ‘First Birthday Photo Cost Support’ project was prepared to overcome the low birthrate in Gwangjin-gu and to create a family-friendly environment conducive to raising children. It symbolizes the community celebrating the newborn’s first birthday together.

This project targets 600 infants born after January 2021 who reside in Gwangjin-gu (as per resident registration), providing support worth 100,000 KRW per child. For families with multiple children, each infant can apply and receive support individually, and either the father or mother residing in Gwangjin-gu as of the application date can apply.

The selection criteria prioritize basic livelihood security recipients, persons with disabilities, families with multiple children (second child or later), and multicultural families as first priority, with other families as second priority. If applicants exceed 600, selection will be based on Gwangjin-gu birth registration and long-term residence of the father or mother in Gwangjin-gu.

Applications are accepted from January 17 to March 16. Applicants must submit the application form and supporting documents according to the application type by visiting their local community service center. Selected recipients will be announced on March 31 on the district website and notified individually via text message. For more information, contact the Family Welfare Division or the local community service center.
