[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, promised on the 16th to ease COVID-19 quarantine standards such as the quarantine pass based on scientific quarantine criteria. He stated that quarantine passes would be abolished in indoor spaces where masks are worn and no conversation takes place.

At a press conference held at the party headquarters on the same day, Candidate Yoon said, "Since the possibility of coronavirus transmission is very low when masks are worn indoors and no conversation occurs, I propose abolishing the quarantine pass."

He explained, "If places such as reading rooms, study cafes, libraries, museums, art galleries, science centers, movie theaters, performance halls, PC rooms, academies, and religious facilities meet these conditions, they will be subject to the abolition of the quarantine pass."

He also promised to ease social distancing even in indoor spaces where masks cannot be worn if ventilation standards are met.

Candidate Yoon explained, "In indoor facilities where masks cannot be worn, if ventilation facility construction requirements are met, they will be designated as ‘Excellent Ventilation Establishments,’ and the current facility entry standard of one person per 4㎡ (1.2 pyeong) will be relaxed to two persons per 4㎡ (1.2 pyeong), and an extension of business hours by 2 hours will be allowed."

The applicable businesses include restaurants, cafes, entertainment facilities such as pubs, karaoke rooms, and bathhouses.
