Government Extends Travel Advisory for One Month Due to Omicron Spread

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 14th that it will extend the special travel advisory until February 13 due to the spread of the Omicron variant virus.

The special travel advisory is issued for urgent short-term risks and corresponds to travel alert level 2 (travel caution) or higher and level 3 (recommendation to evacuate) or lower.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been continuously extending the special travel advisory since it was first issued on March 23, 2020.

The Ministry plans to review a phased transition from the special travel advisory for all countries and regions to a country-specific travel alert system within the first quarter, considering overseas quarantine situations, vaccination rates, and the progress of travel safety zone consultations.
