"HDC Hyundai Development Company Struggles to Regain Trust After I-Park Survives Helicopter Collision"

"HDC Hyundai Development Company Struggles to Regain Trust After I-Park Survives Helicopter Collision" Gwangju City announced on the 12th that it will exclude HDC Hyundai Development Company from projects promoted by the city following the collapse accident at the high-rise residential-commercial complex apartment constructed by HDC Hyundai Development Company. The photo shows the site of the new construction in Hwajeong-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju, where six people went missing.

Amid a series of construction accidents triggering signs of a ' 탈 (?) I-Park' trend in the housing market, HDC Hyundai Development Company is making every effort to restore trust by even bringing up past accident cases.

According to the construction industry on the 14th, HDC Hyundai Development Company sent an official letter yesterday to major housing redevelopment and maintenance project associations with which it had already signed contracts, regarding the Gwangju Hwajeong I-Park accident. The letter aims to calm the anxiety caused by the Gwangju accident and promises measures to prevent recurrence.

HDC Hyundai Development Company emphasized safety by stating, "We built the Samsung-dong I-Park, which remained intact even after a helicopter collision, and the Haeundae I-Park, which was the only one to block seawater during the flooding in the Busan area."

The Samsung-dong I-Park was the site of a helicopter collision accident on November 16, 2013. A helicopter moving from Gimpo Airport to Jamsil heliport collided with the 24th to 26th floors of Samsung-dong I-Park and crashed into a flower bed, but there were no significant issues with the building's safety. In 2016, a typhoon caused flooding in Busan's Haeundae Marine City. While the area was devastated, the Haeundae I-Park was equipped with waterproof facilities and was not damaged.

HDC Hyundai Development Company mentioned these past accident cases and sent the official letter because the current situation is extremely urgent.

Due to the series of major collapse accidents in Gwangju, trust in both 'HDC Hyundai Development Company' and the 'I-Park' brand is rapidly declining.

In the metropolitan area, there is a growing movement among redevelopment and reconstruction associations and apartment complexes to remove the 'I-Park' name from complex names.

The redevelopment association of Unam 3 Complex in Buk-gu, Gwangju, officially notified that it is considering terminating the construction contract with HDC Hyundai Development Company and other consortium members.

Some members of the Gaepo 1 Complex Jugong Apartment reconstruction association in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where the 'DH Firstier I-Park' will be built, have argued that the I-Park brand name should be removed.

Concerns are also growing in the redevelopment association of Sangye 1 District in Nowon-gu, Seoul, and the reconstruction associations of Mia 4 District in Mia-dong, Gangbuk-gu, and Miseong Apartment in Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu, all of which selected HDC Hyundai Development Company as the construction company last year.

HDC Hyundai Development Company achieved 1.5 trillion won in orders in the urban maintenance sector last year. Most of these projects completed contractor selection last year and are scheduled for contracts this year.

An industry insider said, "Recovering lost trust is more difficult than enduring strong administrative sanctions such as business suspension," adding, "Under the current atmosphere, it seems highly likely that securing orders will become difficult not only in the affected areas but nationwide."
