Gwangju City Election Commission Conducts Training to Enhance Expertise of Dual Election Support Teams

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan City Election Commission is working hard to strengthen the expertise of the support team for the 20th presidential election and the 8th simultaneous nationwide local elections held this year.

The Gwangju Election Commission announced on the 11th that it conducted a "Zoom Professional Training for the Two Major Elections Fair Election Support Team" to enhance the practical capabilities of the Fair Election Support Team, which is carrying out activities to prevent and crack down on election violations.

This training was conducted for about 150 prevention and crackdown support personnel, including the Fair Election Support Team, election law guidance personnel, and political fund accounting guidance personnel, who will directly respond to candidates and others in the field.

In compliance with strengthened COVID-19 quarantine guidelines, the five district election commissions used a video conferencing system to conduct real-time non-face-to-face training.

The training covered roles and attitudes as members of the Fair Election Support Team, cultivation of refined field response skills, transfer of prevention and crackdown know-how, and customer service (CS) education through the invitation of external professional instructors, which was evaluated to have helped establish and enhance the role and capabilities of the support team as "friendly messengers."

A representative of the Gwangju Election Commission said, "Through strengthening the expertise of election crackdown personnel and the public service mindset, we will do our best to carry out prevention and crackdown activities that the public trusts and sympathizes with, so that a free and fair election order can be established in the upcoming two major elections."
