Securing Residents' Safety with Earthquake and Wind Resistance Design
Dongtan Pureunmaeul with 13% Building Coverage Ratio Enhances Openness
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] Doosan Construction's residential brand ‘We’ve’ is an apartment born from Doosan Construction's efforts to create a pleasant living environment. It embodies the meanings of a place with the joy of living (Live), love and happiness (Love), a space you definitely want to have (Have), economical living (Save), and a place where all life’s problems are solved (Solve).
Born in 2001, ‘We’ve’ started with ‘Doosan We’ve’ in Geumgok-dong, Bundang New Town, Gyeonggi Province, and has established itself as Doosan Construction’s representative residential brand. The ‘We’ve’ brand has since branched out, using ‘We’ve the Zenith’ for residential-commercial complexes, and ‘We’ve Centium’ and ‘We’ve Pavilion’ for officetels.
The representative complex of ‘We’ve the Zenith’ is the 2011-completed Haeundae Doosan We’ve the Zenith. This complex, with a total of 1,788 households, was built as an 80-story building surpassing the 69-story Tower Palace III in Dogok-dong, Seoul, which symbolized Korea’s super high-rise buildings, and is regarded as opening a new chapter in residential living. Its design, inspired by the waves of the sea in front of Haeundae and the nearby Jangsan Mountain, harmonizes with the surrounding environment, and the living room windows were maximized to offer a panoramic view of Haeundae’s sea.
To withstand its height of 300 meters, earthquake-resistant design capable of enduring a magnitude 7.0 Richter scale earthquake was applied, along with wind-resistant design to withstand strong winds of up to 40 meters per second, ensuring residents’ safety. Real-time building monitoring technology has been implemented to respond to natural disasters, and for the first time in Korea, emergency evacuation spaces are secured every three floors, prioritizing safety in super high-rise buildings.
Gyeonggi Province’s Ilsan We’ve the Zenith is the first super high-rise complex supplied in Ilsan. It consists of 59 floors above ground and a total of 2,700 households. Corresponding to its scale, a large commercial facility of 68,000㎡ (about 20,000 pyeong) is established. The street-type shopping mall, We’ve the Zenith Square, attracts not only residents but also the attention of Ilsan citizens, becoming a new landmark.
The representative complex of the ‘We’ve’ brand is Dongtan Pureunmaeul Doosan We’ve in Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province. Comprising 11 buildings and 915 households, this complex sits on a spacious site of about 50,000㎡ with a building coverage ratio of 13%. Unlike the densely built apartments in Seoul, it offers comfort and an open view. The distance between buildings is wide, and the floor height is the highest among nearby complexes, providing excellent openness.
A Doosan Construction official said, "There is an increasing number of complexes that build future smart home systems using big data to control heating without residents’ manipulation and introduce various energy-saving systems to prevent wasted electricity," adding, "We will continue to differentiate our designs to make residents’ lives more convenient and comfortable."
