[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Mirae Company announced on the 6th that it will showcase its Cube Eye lineup of 3D ToF cameras, developed with proprietary technology, at the world’s largest electronics exhibition ‘CES 2022’ held in Las Vegas, USA, until the 7th.
Cube Eye is Mirae Company’s 3D ToF camera brand, featuring a diverse lineup including the ‘Sunlight robustness model’ which is less affected by solar environments, the ‘Wide FoV model’ capable of sensing or measuring wide areas, the ‘Long range model’ that can recognize mid-to-long distances, and the ‘High resolution model’ which is compact and capable of outputting high-precision, high-resolution 3D images.
In particular, the next-generation 3D ToF camera introduced this time supports high resolution of True VGA (640*480 pixels) with a more compact design compared to other 3D cameras. It is equipped with the ‘MR1000’ ASIC chip, which incorporates Mirae Company’s proprietary distance calculation algorithm, enabling high-precision 3D image output with minimal distance error, and optimized processing significantly reduces power consumption and heat generation.
3D ToF cameras collect distance (depth) data of objects that cannot be obtained by regular cameras. Utilizing this distance data enables complex gesture and posture recognition, as well as applications such as autonomous driving through 3D scanning, AR (Augmented Reality)/VR (Virtual Reality), and more. Recently, the use of 3D cameras has increased in various industries including smart home appliances, robotics, entertainment devices, and retail. Especially with the advent of the metaverse era, the importance of 3D cameras that enable spatial scanning is expected to grow even further.
At this CES, Mirae Company will demonstrate various applications using Cube Eye that can be directly experienced in real life. These include a ‘3D virtual touch solution’ that is hygienically safe without direct touch in the COVID-19 era, a ‘facial recognition solution’ specialized in forgery prevention, and an ‘Eye tracking solution’ applying gaze tracking algorithms. Additionally, as a future concept, it will present an ‘AR Zone’ where users can experience virtual reality directly by implementing a smart home without wearable devices.
Kim Jungoo, CEO of Mirae Company, stated, “We feel proud to showcase the technologically advanced next-generation Cube Eye to leading global companies and buyers at CES 2022. We believe that providing experiences and fun elements where various applications using Cube Eye can be directly experienced will increase interest in 3D sensors.”
CEO Kim added, “Through this CES, we aim to create opportunities for collaboration with various companies and, in line with industry trends, achieve not only the expansion of Cube Eye’s application fields in the 3D sensor market but also maximize competitiveness within the market through continuous R&D and active sales activities.”
