[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] Rapper Dok2 (real name Lee Joon-kyung, 31) has appealed a court ruling ordering him to pay a jewelry company for unpaid precious metal fees.
According to the Seoul Southern District Court, Dok2's legal representative submitted a notice of appeal to the first trial court on the 4th.
Previously, Judge Ahn Hong-jun of the Civil Division 6 at the Seoul Southern District Court ruled in favor of the plaintiff, a jewelry merchant A from Los Angeles (LA), USA, in a lawsuit claiming payment for goods against Dok2, ordering "the defendant to pay approximately 41.2 million KRW (34,740 USD) plus interest."
Mr. A claimed that Dok2 purchased seven pieces of precious metals, including gold rings and gold necklaces worth 206,000 USD (about 240 million KRW), in three installments from September to November 2018, but failed to pay 34,740 USD of that amount.
Mr. A lost a lawsuit against Dok2's former agency Illionaire Records in October 2019 regarding the payment for goods and filed a new lawsuit against Dok2 personally in September last year.
