Generation 2030 'Candidates Who Should Not Become President' Yoon Seok-yeol 48.8% > Lee Jae-myung 36.2%

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] In a public opinion poll targeting the 2030 generation for the next presidential candidate, Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, was found to be trailing Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party's presidential candidate, by nearly double the score. Yoon also fell to third place, trailing Ahn Cheol-soo, the People's Party's presidential candidate, within the margin of error. Meanwhile, nearly half of the 2030 generation chose Yoon as the "candidate who should not become president," recording the highest response rate.
On the 5th, Realmeter conducted a survey commissioned by YTN over two days from the 3rd to the 4th, targeting 1,024 men and women nationwide aged 18 to 39, asking "Who would you vote for in the next presidential election?" The results showed Lee leading with 33.4% support. Ahn followed in second place with 19.1%. Yoon received 18.4%, placing third.
Yoon trailed Lee by 15.0 percentage points and was behind Ahn by 0.7 percentage points, which is within the margin of error.
Next were Sim Sang-jung of the Justice Party with 7.5%, and Kim Dong-yeon of the New Wave Party with 1.4%. 'Other figures' accounted for 2.8%, and the undecided group ('none/don't know') was 17.4%.
By age group, among those in their 20s (ages 18-29), Lee had 26.4%, Ahn 23.6%, showing a close race, while Yoon lagged at 15.1%. In the 30s age group, Lee dominated with 41.3%, followed by Yoon at 22.1%, and Ahn at 14.0%.
In a survey breaking down age groups by gender, among the so-called 'I-dae-nam' (20s male demographic), Ahn's support was highest at 31.1%. Lee followed with 27.5%, and Yoon was at 15.8%.
Additionally, when asked about the "candidate who you think should not become president" (veto candidate), Yoon topped the list with 48.8%. Lee was at 36.2%.
Notably, the response that Yoon should not become president was higher than Lee's across all regions, including Seoul at 48.1%. Even among the People Power Party's support base, 18.9% chose Yoon, and among conservatives, 32.5% selected him.
The response that Lee should not become president was only 9.7% among Democratic Party supporters and 20.9% among progressives.
Among centrists, 50.4% chose Yoon as the veto candidate, while Lee was at 35.7%.
Regarding the nature of the next presidential election, the proportion choosing "regime change to the People Power Party" (26.8%) was lower than those choosing "Democratic Party regime continuation" (29.3%) and "regime change to a figure or party other than the ruling or main opposition party (third zone)" (28.3%).
Party support was as follows: Democratic Party 31.7%, People Power Party 27.9%, People's Party 9.4%, Justice Party 5.4%, Open Democratic Party 2.2%. 'Other parties' accounted for 1.8%, and the non-affiliated group ('none/don't know') reached 21.6%.
