Jindo-gun Enters the Era of 'Over 400 Billion Won' with a 75.5 Billion Won Increase in Next Year's Budget Proposal

Focus on Daily Life Recovery and Continuous Local Economic Revitalization Following With-Corona

Emphasis on Key Projects Such as Infrastructure Development, Saecheon New Deal 300, and Disaster Risk Zone Improvement

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Jindo County, Jeollanam-do, has prepared a budget for next year amounting to 430.6 billion KRW, an increase of 75.5 billion KRW compared to this year, aiming to simultaneously promote recovery of livelihoods exhausted by COVID-19 and sustainable regional development.


According to the county on the 30th, it has opened the era of a 400 billion KRW budget for the first time, with the 2022 budget proposal consisting of 422.7 billion KRW in the general account and 7.9 billion KRW in the special account, marking a 21.2% increase compared to this year.


The focus is on daily life recovery following the With-Corona policy, revitalization of the local economy, job creation, and enhancement of resident welfare. In particular, resources were prioritized for rapid livelihood recovery and fostering new industries to lead the future growth of Jindo County.


Major projects include the Fishing Village New Deal 300 Project (11 billion KRW), national and local management of embankment repair and maintenance (5 billion KRW), disaster risk zone maintenance project (4.8 billion KRW), village sewage system maintenance project (4.3 billion KRW), and smart water network management infrastructure construction (4.1 billion KRW).


Also included are the Regional Unit Hub Development Project (3.1 billion KRW), incineration facility installation project (2.6 billion KRW), small stream maintenance project (2.4 billion KRW), Okjugol Harmony Center construction project (2 billion KRW), farmers and fishermen public interest allowance (3.9 billion KRW), and Jeju high-speed ferry vessel and bridge installation (1.5 billion KRW).


Key special account projects include water supply consignment integrated operation fees (4.3 billion KRW), Jangheung Dam wide-area water usage fees (1.4 billion KRW), and medical benefit treatment cost burden (500 million KRW).


County Governor Lee Dong-jin stated, “We have prepared a main budget of 430.6 billion KRW for next year, a 21.2% increase compared to this year, to ensure rapid livelihood recovery from the COVID-19 economic downturn, smooth progress of pending projects, and to lay the foundation for Jindo County’s future development. We will do our best to carry out projects swiftly and solidly through thorough prior preparation to provide administration that satisfies our residents.”


Meanwhile, Jindo County is making a vigorous leap forward, gaining attention as a marine tourism hub of the southwestern coast of Jeollanam-do with the opening of the marine cable car, the launch of tourist cruise ships, and ecological and experiential tourism this year.
