Geochang-gun, Achievements in Building a Premium Happy City for Residents during the 7th Elected Term

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, faced more challenges than any other period at the launch of the 7th local government, with many conflicts and various issues such as the Geochang Legal Town and the Geochang International Theater Festival. However, it has been praised for resolving these issues cleanly and maintaining stable county administration.

As reported in October in the article "Changes Before and After the 7th Local Government," many residents have felt the significant changes in Geochang-gun. Among many achievements, we looked into the county administration accomplishments that were first implemented nationwide and in Gyeongnam Province, gaining attention and achieving outstanding results.

The Y-shaped suspension bridge, the first of its kind nationwide as a cable-stayed bridge without towers, has become a representative attraction of Geochang Anti-Aging Healing Land. Opened last year, it attracted about 150,000 visitors in one month. This year, the completion of the Forest Healing Center, Forest Recreation Hall, and Forest House has turned it into a stay-type forest tourism destination, attracting 3,000 to 5,000 visitors on weekends.

Geochang Changpowon was designated as the first local garden in Gyeongsangnam-do in January after meeting the local garden registration standards, including the district map, facility specifications, and tree genetic resource list, according to the "Act on the Creation and Promotion of Arboretums and Gardens." It officially opened in May.

Additionally, it was designated as a representative ecological tourism site of Gyeongsangnam-do in July and received the Promising Local Garden Award in October, achieving a triple crown this year. With beautiful flowers throughout the four seasons and various linked events, it attracts up to 5,000 visitors on weekends, becoming a famous spot with over 200,000 visitors this year.
