Hong Nam-ki "Full Support for Development of Domestic COVID-19 Therapeutics and Vaccines"

On-site Visit to Three Companies in Vaccine Development, Venture, and Export Sectors

[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Hong Nam-ki stated on the 29th that "we will spare no support for the development of domestically produced COVID-19 treatments and vaccines."

On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Hong visited GeneOne Life Science in Yeouido, Seoul, and made these remarks. GeneOne Life Science is a treatment and vaccine development company currently conducting clinical trials for two COVID-19 treatments and one vaccine. Hong said, "We will make every effort to support the rapid development of domestic treatments and vaccines, as well as to secure capabilities for responding to infectious disease crises and experience and technology in vaccine development in the future."

Deputy Prime Minister Hong then visited WiseNut, a data and artificial intelligence venture company located in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, to check the effects of venture company policy support and the status of the Data Dam construction. He said, "The decisive role in breaking the record for the highest venture investment ever this year was played by non-face-to-face sectors such as data and artificial intelligence," and promised, "The government will actively support the second venture boom by smoothly supplying excellent personnel and abundant funds to venture companies."

Afterwards, he visited Intellian Technologies, a wireless communication equipment export company located in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province. It is the world’s number one company leading the maritime satellite communication antenna market. Deputy Prime Minister Hong said, "We will focus policy capabilities on resolving corporate difficulties to actively respond to risk factors such as the spread of variant viruses and global supply chain bottlenecks, and to maintain strong export power next year as well."
