[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] BMT announced on the 28th that it has signed a supply contract worth approximately 4.8 billion KRW for low voltage switchgear (LV SWGR) with Samsung C&T.
The low voltage switchgear to be supplied this time is scheduled to be delivered by December 31, 2022, for Samsung C&T's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport expansion project in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Founded in 1988 as a fitting and valve manufacturing company, BMT expanded its business into the electrical sector (BMT Electric & Energy) in 2005 and has been providing distribution boards and IoT energy management solutions applying its own patented technology.
BMT Electric & Energy obtained a patent in August this year for a high-voltage metal enclosed switchgear (MCSG) with a metal compartment structure that offers optimal safety. Subsequently, it won the Technology Innovation Grand Prize in the Energy Management Solutions category at the '2021 Smart Factory Awards' held in October.
A BMT official stated, "Due to the global climate change policy trends, expansion of renewable energy, and electricity price increases, the importance of energy management solutions is increasing," adding, "We will expand technology development and investment in distribution boards and energy management solutions along with our core fitting and valve business to grow them into key businesses."
