[Asia Economy Reporter Geum Bo-ryeong] Kim Gun-hee, the spouse of Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, acknowledged the 'false resume allegations' surrounding her and apologized to the public on the 26th.
At 3 p.m. that day, Kim held a press conference at the People Power Party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, stating, "Even if you criticize me, Kim Gun-hee, who has made mistakes, I earnestly ask you not to take away the feelings for my husband who has walked a very difficult and hard path," and added, "I offer my apologies. I am sorry." During this process, Kim also showed tears.
She admitted to the allegations raised so far. Kim said, "There were mistakes on my part while balancing work and studies. I exaggerated my career to look better and also wrote some things incorrectly," adding, "I should not have done that, and looking back, it was a very shameful thing. Everything is my fault and negligence."
She then addressed the public, saying, "Please forgive me. I sincerely apologize," and "My heart breaks deeply seeing my husband being criticized because of me. I deeply reflect on my past mistakes and will be very careful not to fall short of the public's expectations."
She continued, "I was very lacking. During the remaining election period, I will quietly reflect and introspect," and emphasized, "Even if my husband becomes president, I will focus solely on my role as a wife. Please take away your anger."

Kim mentioned Yoon, saying, "The first day I met my husband, I thought he was a scary person because he was a prosecutor. But he was always confident, hearty, and generous to juniors even if he wore the same clothes," and added, "He always called me, worried about my weak health, asking 'Have you eaten?' and 'Dress warmly because the weather is cold.'"
She continued, "Because of me, my husband is now in a very difficult position. If I have to disappear for my husband to be properly evaluated as my husband, I would rather do that," and added, "I am infinitely lacking compared to my husband. My faults are too shameful in front of my husband Yoon Seok-yeol, whom I love and respect."
Kim also said, "I think all the pain my husband has experienced since our marriage is my fault," and tearfully said, "After marriage, we had a hard time conceiving a child, but due to my husband's work, my body and mind were exhausted, and I lost the child. I can no longer fulfill my husband's earnest wish to carry a beautiful child to work."
Earlier, on the 15th, Kim said, "I am willing to apologize for causing concern to the people," and "Regardless of the facts, I said I would apologize because the public might feel discomfort and fatigue. Candidate Yoon also apologized on the 17th, saying, 'I am sorry for causing concern to the people due to the controversy related to my wife.'"
