Rising Public Outcry Over Myanmar Civilian Casualties: "Over 30 Bodies Found Burned"

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Amid rising international condemnation of the Myanmar military government's killing of civilians, the discovery of the burned bodies of more than 30 civilians has caused shock.

According to Reuters on the 25th, the Karenni Human Rights Group, a civic organization, announced that the bodies of more than 30 refugees, including elderly people, women, and children, were found near Pruso village in eastern Kayah State.

They added that the victims were killed by the Myanmar military the previous day and then burned. They strongly condemned the inhumane and brutal killings.

The Karenni National Defense Force (KNDF), one of the representative ethnic armed groups opposing the military government, stated that the victims were refugees, not their members.

Meanwhile, regarding this incident, the international community has raised voices condemning the Myanmar military government, urging it to stop killing civilians, including anti-junta forces.

The United States and the United Nations issued joint statements condemning the discovery earlier this month of the burned bodies of 11 residents, including teenagers and disabled people, in the Sagaing region of central Myanmar, following reports from local media. However, the military government denied the allegations as groundless.
