Galaxy S22 Ultra, Video Recording Features Greatly Improved

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] The photo and video quality of Samsung Electronics' flagship smartphone series 'Galaxy S22,' expected to be released in February next year, particularly the top-tier 'Ultra (Note)' model, is expected to be significantly improved thanks to software optimization and artificial intelligence (AI) enhancements.

On the 24th (local time), IT specialist media PhoneArena and others cited IT tipster Ahmed Qwaider to introduce the camera function improvements of the S22 Ultra.

The S22 Ultra is expected to see a major enhancement in video recording capabilities. According to Qwaider, the S22 Ultra's 'Wide Shift OIS (Optical Image Stabilization)' feature will improve video shake reduction by 58% compared to before, and the AI video digital image stabilization (VDiS) function will improve about fourfold. Additionally, in Pro mode, it will shoot in 12-bit (68.7 billion colors), which expands the color expression range by more than 64 times compared to the previous 10-bit (1.07 billion colors), allowing users to experience enhanced colors and reduced noise.

The camera specifications of the S22 Ultra are not significantly different from its predecessor, the 'Galaxy S21 Ultra.' The rear of the S22 Ultra is expected to be equipped with a 108-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, two 10-megapixel telephoto cameras with 3x to 10x zoom capabilities, and a 40-megapixel selfie camera on the front.

However, the image sensor will be upgraded. The Ultra is expected to feature the improved ISOCELL HM3, while the base and Plus models are anticipated to have the ISOCELL GN5. Both are new high-resolution sensors released this year. IT tipster Ice Universe stated, "The 108-megapixel camera of the S22 Ultra will offer an AI-based image quality enhancement mode," adding, "It will provide better detail, color, and brightness than before."

Meanwhile, the S22 series is expected to be unveiled at a global unpacked event in February next year. The application processor (AP) is projected to be equipped with Qualcomm's latest 'Snapdragon 8 Gen 1' or Samsung's 'Exynos 2200,' depending on the release region.
