[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] The preliminary autopsy results for Kim Moon-gi, Head of Development Division 1 at Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, who was found dead on the 21st after handling the practical work of the Daejang-dong development project in Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province, amid allegations of preferential treatment, showed no signs of homicide.

On the 23rd, the Bundang Police Station in Gyeonggi announced that they received a preliminary opinion from the National Forensic Service, which conducted the autopsy, stating that the cause of death is "presumed to be asphyxiation due to strangulation."

The police, after reviewing Kim’s movements and the autopsy findings, currently see no evidence of homicide. It will take about one to two weeks for the detailed examination results to be released.

Kim was found collapsed and dead around 8:30 p.m. on the 21st in the first-floor office of the Seongnam Urban Development Corporation building. The police checked Kim’s mobile phone and searched the office but reportedly did not find a suicide note.

Kim was the person responsible for the practical work of the Daejang-dong development project until earlier this year and has been suspected as a key figure, along with former Planning Director Yoo Dong-gyu of Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, in deleting the excess profit recovery clause from the Daejang-dong project agreement. After the allegations surfaced, Kim was investigated several times as a witness by the prosecution and police.
