Since the Launch of the Dream Car Project in 2013, a Total of 130 Cars Delivered to Date This Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Hyundai Wia employees collected a portion of their salaries to donate cars to social welfare organizations near their workplaces.
On the 23rd, Hyundai Wia announced that it donated 'Hyundai Wia Dream Cars' to a total of six welfare institutions nationwide near its business sites, including the Nanum Workplace, a sheltered workshop for the disabled located in Changwon, Gyeongnam.
Hyundai Wia purchased the donated vehicles with 170 million KRW, combining funds raised through the in-house social contribution program '1% Miracle' and company contributions, and delivered them to each institution. Since holding the Dream Car delivery ceremony in 2013, Hyundai Wia has delivered a total of 130 cars to welfare institutions nationwide to date.
Hyundai Wia selected local welfare institutions that lacked vehicles or had insufficient vehicles, making it difficult to carry out welfare activities, and supported them with cars. For example, 'Nanum and Serving House' in Ulsan Metropolitan City has been distributing lunchboxes to about 200 elderly living alone but faced difficulties in operation due to the lack of vehicles. Similarly, 'Dreaming Neurimbo' in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, which serves more than 15 people with developmental disabilities daily, experienced operational inconveniences due to the absence of vehicles.
In addition to the Dream Car project, Hyundai Wia plans to continuously expand social contribution programs that help local residents and practice Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management. A Hyundai Wia official stated, "We are pleased that employees' voluntary donations have allowed us to gift 130 vehicles so far, helping our neighbors," adding, "In a situation where many neighbors are struggling due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Hyundai Wia will continue to strive to be a small hope."
