Sancheong-gun Receives Excellence Award from Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency Scenic View of Sancheong-gun Agricultural Technology Center

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Agricultural Technology Center of Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 22nd that it was selected as an excellent collaborative institution in this year's 'Tick-borne Infectious Disease Prevention Management Project Evaluation' hosted by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.

Since 2019, the Sancheong-gun Agricultural Center has been striving to promote education and publicity targeting farmers to prevent tick-borne infectious diseases.

In particular, it has promoted education to institutionalize tick prevention activities such as ▲ management guidelines for preventing tick-borne infectious diseases during outdoor farm work ▲ related disease publicity ▲ methods of wearing work clothes for about 350 members of the Life Improvement Association and 7 rural resource subcommittee research groups.

This year, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the education was converted to online, with about 180 Life Improvement Association members from each eup and myeon participating in education twice a week.

The online education was greatly supported by fostering Life Improvement Association county executives and rural resource item research group executives as tick prevention education instructors with the help of Sancheong-gun Health and Medical Center.

The education content included tick-borne infectious disease prevention education, immunity-enhancing Life Improvement Association exercises, and methods for recycling ice packs to practice carbon neutrality technology.

In particular, the county Agricultural Center worked hard to create a safe farming environment for local farmers by producing and distributing videos guiding how to participate in online classes to enhance the continuity of education.

An official from the county Agricultural Technology Center said, “The Life Improvement Association county executives, who are the instructors, demonstrated lecture skills comparable to experts by utilizing the education content received with the help of the Health and Medical Center, as well as resources such as the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency website and Agricultural Technology Institute textbooks,” and added, “We will continue to actively promote and expand education and projects related to rural resources for healthy and sustainable agricultural activities.”
