[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] Samsung Card announced on the 20th that it has launched the 'Samsung iD Energy Card,' a fuel and automobile-specialized card that offers benefits to satisfy the diverse preferences of drivers.
This card features a wide range of eligible gas stations and provides simple fuel discount benefits. It also includes new benefits reflecting various lifestyle patterns of automobile users, such as public transportation, electric vehicle charging, and Starbucks Drive-Thru.
First, it offers payment day discount benefits for essential expenses drivers incur while operating their vehicles, including ▲fuel ▲highway tolls ▲parking and designated driver services. For fuel purchases of 10,000 KRW or more per transaction, a payment day discount of 10,000 KRW is provided up to 3 times per month, totaling up to 30,000 KRW, depending on the previous month's spending. Fuel benefits apply to purchases at ▲SK Energy ▲GS Caltex ▲S-OIL ▲Hyundai Oilbank gas stations.
A 10% payment day discount is also provided for highway toll payments. This benefit applies not only when tolls are paid directly with this card but also when customers holding this card pay using the 'Samsung Postpaid Hi-Pass Card.' The benefit is capped at a maximum of 5,000 KRW per month for combined toll usage. Additionally, a 10% payment day discount is offered for parking and designated driver services, up to 5,000 KRW per month.
Beyond basic driving-related benefits, the card offers various perks related to automobile lifestyle. It provides a 10% payment day discount on combined monthly spending up to 5,000 KRW for ▲public transportation ▲taxis ▲electric vehicle charging fees.
Moreover, a 30% payment day discount is offered when using Starbucks Drive-Thru. When paying with the Samsung iD Energy Card through My DT Pass at Starbucks Drive-Thru stores, the combined monthly amount used at Starbucks Drive-Thru is eligible for a discount of up to 5,000 KRW. Additionally, vehicle inspection service benefits are provided. Cardholders can receive a 20,000 KRW on-site discount twice a year when exchanging engine oil at Speedmate, and once a year, they can receive free vehicle safety inspections, tire puncture repairs, and tire rotation services.
The above benefits are provided when the previous month's spending is 500,000 KRW or more.
The annual fee is 20,000 KRW for both domestic-only and international (Visa) cards, and users can receive benefits worth up to 640,000 KRW annually.
