Professor Park Jin-young of Gwangju University Awarded 'Lifelong Education Merit' Commendation by Gwangju Mayor

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Gwangju University (President Kim Hyuk-jong) announced on the 17th that Professor Park Jin-young of the Department of Youth Counseling and Lifelong Education received a commendation from the Mayor of Gwangju for his contributions to revitalizing lifelong education in the region.

Professor Park was recognized for actively cooperating in community development through volunteer work and striving for the advancement of lifelong education.

Professor Park has taken the lead in revitalizing regional lifelong education by conducting research and consulting on local lifelong education policies, including the development of Gwangju City’s lifelong learning specialized model in 2017 and 2021, the 2016 and 2020 surveys on the status of lifelong education in Gwangju City, the 2020 development and operation of a specialized lifelong education model in Gwangsan District, and the 2021 establishment of a mid- to long-term development plan for Gwangsan District Lifelong Education Promotion Center.

He is also dedicated to national lifelong education policy research and consulting, such as the 2021 study on the placement targets and standards for lifelong educators conducted by the National Institute for Lifelong Education.

Professor Park Jin-young stated, "I will do my best in even small roles so that citizens can lead happy lives through lifelong learning and so that Gwangju City can be established as a lifelong learning ecosystem where citizens’ daily lives and learning are connected."
