Umi Construction Supports Children from Construction Accident Victim Families with 'Umi Dream Finder' Program

[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Tae-min] Woomi Construction announced on the 17th that it will conduct the career exploration support program "Woomi Dream Finder" for children and adolescents from families affected by construction industry accidents, in collaboration with the global child rights specialized NGO Good Neighbors.

Woomi Dream Finder is the flagship social contribution project of the Geumpa Foundation, a public interest corporation funded by Woomi Construction. The program helps children of families affected by construction industry accidents find their future direction through one-on-one sessions with dream managers composed of professionals, businesspeople, and university students. It started in 2018 and is now in its third year.

Woomi Dream Finder was designed to eliminate educational inequality through practical support and to provide opportunities for healthy growth. Children and adolescents explore their dreams and careers with dream managers and experience various programs such as ▲special lectures on desired occupational groups ▲hands-on activities ▲mentoring ▲institution visits. Participating children and adolescents also receive a small dream support kit along with encouraging messages from their dream managers.

The program is sponsored by the Geumpa Foundation funded by Woomi Construction and is recruiting participants through the Good Neighbors project website. Going forward, the foundation plans to expand its projects and extend practical support to children and adolescents from multicultural families as well as those from families affected by industrial accidents.

Baek Young-han, CEO of Woomi Construction, said, “We plan to provide emotional support for dreams and career exploration opportunities to children and adolescents from families struggling due to construction industry accidents, helping them grow into healthy members of our society.”

Meanwhile, Good Neighbors, established in Korea in 1991, is a global child rights specialized NGO actively carrying out professional social welfare projects and international development cooperation projects domestically, in North Korea, and overseas to create a world without hunger and a world of coexistence.
