CU Signs MOU with Ministry of Education to Promote Career and Vocational Education for Students with Disabilities

CU Signs MOU with Ministry of Education to Promote Career and Vocational Education for Students with Disabilities On the 17th, BGF Retail will sign a business agreement with the Ministry of Education to promote career and vocational education for students with disabilities.

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] BGF Retail announced on the 17th that it will sign a business agreement with the Ministry of Education to "promote career and vocational education for students with disabilities."

According to this business agreement, an additional 36 CU stores nationwide will be selected, providing a total of 55 stores as on-site training locations for students with disabilities. These students will take on tasks such as product inspection and display, store cleanliness management, and customer service at actual stores, participating in economic activities as members of society.

Various support programs will also be prepared, including awareness education for managers and staff who will work alongside students with disabilities. Since 2016, BGF Retail has voluntarily led vocational education for people with disabilities by operating the ‘CU Together’ program for individuals with developmental disabilities.

BGF Retail CEO Lee Geon-jun said, “Under the management philosophy of becoming a good friend to our society, we have been leading efforts to illuminate blind spots in local communities, such as child safety and disaster relief activities,” and added, “We hope this business agreement will serve as a valuable stepping stone for students with disabilities, whose opportunities for education and employment have become even narrower due to COVID-19, to confidently become independent members of society.”
