[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, directly apologized for the 'son's gambling controversy,' and on the 16th, Lee Dong-ho, the eldest son of candidate Lee, issued an official apology statement, saying, "I sincerely apologize to those who were hurt and disappointed by my inappropriate behavior."
In the apology statement, Lee said, "I will reflect on this incident, take full responsibility as the person involved, and spend time atoning," adding, "Once again, I bow my head and apologize."
On the same day, Lee Jae-myung apologized at the party headquarters in Yeouido after the launch ceremony of the Social Transition Committee, saying, "A very unfortunate incident occurred involving my family," and "As a parent teaching my children, I sincerely apologize."
He bowed his head and said, "I will do my best to ensure that such incidents do not happen again," and "I apologize deeply once again and offer my sincere apologies."
