Yeonggwang-gun Ranks First Nationwide in Electric Vehicle Distribution...Emerges as the e-Mobility Hub

[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Jeollanam-do Yeonggwang-gun (Governor Kim Junsung) announced on the 16th that as of early this month, the ratio of electric vehicles per 1,000 people reached 11%, ranking first nationwide.

There is an overwhelming gap compared to Daegu Metropolitan City, which ranks second with 2.68%.

This is the result of efforts to promote electric vehicle distribution faster than other cities and counties to enhance the image as an e-mobility hub city.

The county has taken the lead in distributing electric vehicles and e-mobility every year to actively foster the e-mobility industry, a future growth engine industry.

Also, it has distributed ▲518 high-speed electric vehicles ▲154 ultra-small electric vehicles ▲239 electric two-wheelers ▲40 electric cargo vehicles ▲157 personal mobility (PM) devices.

Through the e-mobility national subsidy project, the nation’s first PM distribution project, and additional subsidy support policies for electric vehicles and electric two-wheelers, the largest subsidies nationwide were provided.

Along with the distribution of e-mobility, e-mobility infrastructure (dedicated roads, charging infrastructure) has been established, and various e-mobility policy projects are being promoted.

In particular, ultra-small electric vehicles and electric two-wheelers are gaining popularity among small business owners (for delivery vehicles) and have much lower maintenance costs compared to internal combustion vehicles.

The county currently owns 83 chargers, and slow chargers are open for free, resulting in very high satisfaction among residents using electric vehicles.

Even after the distribution project ended this year, inquiries about next year’s e-mobility distribution project are pouring in.

In the future, to meet the high demand and the current reputation, various distribution projects are planned for next year.

The county plans to distribute ▲80 high-speed electric vehicles ▲60 ultra-small electric vehicles ▲79 electric two-wheelers ▲63 electric cargo vehicles ▲2 electric buses ▲50 PM devices.

A county official said, “In response to the government’s eco-friendly vehicle expansion policy, we will continue to actively support the e-mobility distribution project,” and “We thank the residents for their great interest in electric vehicles and e-mobility.”
