'Daejang-dong Allegations' Yuhan-gi Found Dead Near Residence... Left a Suicide Note (Comprehensive)

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Yuhan-gi, former head of the Development Project Headquarters at Seongnam Urban Development Corporation (66, currently president of Pocheon Urban Corporation), who had a detention warrant requested in connection with the ‘Daejang-dong scandal,’ was found dead on the 10th.

According to Ilsan Western Police Station, at around 7:40 a.m. that day, a resident discovered Yuhan-gi’s body in a flower bed in an apartment complex in Ilsan-seo-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi Province, and reported it. The location where he was found was near Yuhan-gi’s residence.

Earlier, the police received a report from Yuhan-gi’s family around 4 a.m. that he had left a suicide note and gone missing, and had been conducting a search. The specific contents of the note have not been disclosed, but it is known to have implied an extreme choice.

According to the police investigation, Yuhan-gi left his apartment complex, his residence, at around 2 a.m., two hours before the missing person report was filed. He did not take his mobile phone, so location tracking was not possible. A police official said, "We plan to investigate the circumstances of death."

The prosecution, investigating the Daejang-dong development bribery and preferential treatment allegations, requested a detention warrant for Yuhan-gi the day before. Yuhan-gi is suspected of receiving 200 million won in bribes from Nam Wook, a lawyer and owner of Cheonhwa-dongin No. 4, and Jung Young-hak, an accountant and owner of Cheonhwa-dongin No. 5, affiliated with Hwacheon Daeyu, in August 2014 under the pretext of lobbying.

Yuhan-gi’s pre-arrest interrogation (warrant hearing) was scheduled for the 14th at the Seoul Central District Court. He had consistently denied the related allegations.
