Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok "Welcomes Increase in Gift Value for Agricultural, Fishery, and Livestock Products During Holidays"

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeonnam Province, expressed strong support on the 9th for the passage of the revised Anti-Graft Act, which raises the gift value limit for agricultural, fishery, and livestock products during the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays, following bipartisan agreement in the National Assembly.


With the passage of the revised Anti-Graft Act on this day, the gift value limit for agricultural, fishery, and livestock products during the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays will be raised from 100,000 won to 200,000 won.


Governor Kim said, “I extend my congratulations and gratitude to the farmers and agricultural and fishery distribution workers who acted together for the passage of the revision,” adding, “I thank Jeon Hyun-hee, Chairperson of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, the members of the plenary committee, Song Young-gil, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, Kim Tae-heum, Chairperson of the Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock, Food, and Maritime Affairs Committee and its members, Choi Seung-jae, Chairperson of the Small Business Committee of the People Power Party, as well as Representative Lee Gae-ho and nine other members of the National Assembly who proposed the revision, for their bipartisan cooperation and support.”


He also expressed appreciation to the nationwide provincial governors including Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, who worked to raise the gift value limit every holiday season, Hwang Myung-sun, Chairperson of the Korea Association of Mayors, County Heads, and District Heads, Kim Han-jong, Chairperson of the Jeonnam Provincial Council and council members, and agricultural and fishery organizations such as the Korea Federation of Agricultural Organizations.


Governor Kim stated, “The increase in the gift value limit for agricultural, fishery, and livestock products during the holidays is a great gift like timely rain for the 3 million farmers and fishers and 2 million agricultural and fishery distributors nationwide who have been struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic and frequent natural disasters,” adding, “The conditions have been established to express gratitude with our agricultural, fishery, and livestock products every holiday.”


He continued, “In line with the trend toward non-face-to-face transactions, we will further support farmers through the revitalization of the online Namdo Market and the expansion of the Amazon Jeonnam Brand Pavilion,” adding, “I hope this legislation will serve as an opportunity to build a public service that earns greater trust from the people and to become a fairer Republic of Korea.”
