[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 9th that it will intensively conduct the 3rd (booster) COVID-19 vaccination for the elderly aged 60 and over throughout December.

Elderly people aged 60 and over who have completed the basic vaccination (1st and 2nd doses) and have passed 4 months can receive the vaccination on the same day by visiting nearby designated medical institutions or public health centers after inquiry, without prior reservation.

The Gimhae Public Health Center has formed a dedicated COVID-19 vaccination team to conduct on-site vaccinations at infection-vulnerable facilities such as nursing homes, and is conducting one-stop vaccinations for elderly people aged 60 and over by designating dates for each eup, myeon, and dong until the 17th.

The 3rd vaccination for the general public aged 18 and over is also underway, and if 5 months have passed since the 2nd dose, same-day vaccination is possible either by reservation or through leftover vaccines.

Citizens who wish to receive vaccination after making a reservation according to their schedule can designate the vaccination date starting two days after the reservation date.

Reservations can be made through the pre-reservation website, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency call center, or the Gimhae Public Health Center, and reservation support is also available at nearby eup, myeon, and dong administrative welfare centers. When visiting the eup, myeon, or dong administrative welfare center, bring an ID card and the mobile phone of the reservation target person.

Mayor Heo Seong-gon stated, “As time passes after COVID-19 vaccination, the infection prevention effect decreases, so the 3rd vaccination should be considered essential rather than optional, and active participation in vaccination is necessary.”
