[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] National Optics, a company specializing in the development of automated equipment for cameras and lenses, announced on the 9th that it has filed a patent with Samsung Electronics for a "preprocessing facility for capturing foreign substances on cameras."
National Optics developed a precise preprocessing facility that is easy to operate and apply, based on its experience in the optical industry and software technology. It supplies precision equipment to Samsung Electronics and mobile phone camera and lens module manufacturers.
A National Optics official stated, "With the recent popularization of SNS and YouTube services, the number of consumers creating photo and video content with smartphones is increasing," adding, "For the MZ generation, this desire is strong, making camera functionality a key criterion in choosing a smartphone."
He continued, "Global smartphone manufacturers such as Samsung Electronics and Apple are increasing the adoption of high-spec cameras, leading to a growing demand for advanced camera technology," but also noted, "Very small foreign substances within the manufacturing process interfere with camera image quality, causing headaches for smartphone camera manufacturers."
Smartphone camera production requires extremely high precision in the manufacturing process, as invisible foreign substances smaller than approximately 20um (1um = 1/1000mm) can affect camera image quality.
The official said, "With this patent registration, we expect Samsung Electronics and major first-tier camera-related partners to resolve concerns regarding 'foreign substances,'" and added, "Based on joint patents and development with Samsung Electronics, we plan to produce various equipment that can improve both productivity and quality in the future."
He further stated, "Currently, National Optics' precision control technology using 3-axis robots is being widely applied in the smartphone camera lens process equipment field and is contributing to building an original technology sector," and added, "We will continue to strive to become a company that leads the industry with technologies that enrich human life."
