[Asia Economy Reporter Junhyung Lee] Interior startup ApartMentary announced on the 9th that it achieved its highest-ever sales last month due to increased demand for interior design.
Last month's sales amounted to 3 billion KRW, doubling compared to the same month last year. The company has already closed reservations for interior design services this year and is about to close reservations for the first quarter of next year. This indicates that next year's sales growth could be steeper than this year, according to the company. ApartMentary expects next year's sales to increase more than threefold compared to this year.
The background of this performance lies in the growth trend of the interior design market. The domestic interior industry has been on a growth trajectory since the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the Korea Construction Industry Research Institute, the size of the domestic interior and remodeling market is expected to increase from 41.5 trillion KRW last year to 49.3 trillion KRW in 2023.
The increase in aging housing stock has also fueled demand for interior design. According to the industry, houses over 20 years old account for half of all households.
Yoon Soyeon, co-CEO of ApartMentary, said, "As the interior market grows and customer demand rapidly increases, we are preparing to expand our business in various areas such as integrating technology-based services and recruiting talent," adding, "We also plan to expand our bases using offline stores starting early next year."
