Shinsegae International Launches Custom Women's Suit Service for 'Giorgio Armani'

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Giorgio Armani, Italy's top luxury brand imported by Shinsegae International, announced on the 9th that it will offer the 'MTO (Made to Order) service' for female customers for the first time in Korea until the end of this month.

MTO is Giorgio Armani's premium bespoke tailoring service where customers directly select fabric, lining, buttons, lapel shapes, etc., and professional tailors create suits and coats.

Previously, the service was held once each in the first and second half of the year targeting male customers, but due to the recent increase in female customers purchasing suits, the target has been expanded. This year, sales of Giorgio Armani's women's jackets, pants, and coats increased by 69% compared to the same period last year, and inquiries about custom suit production have also increased.

Shinsegae International views this as connected to the active social advancement of women and their rising social status. According to an analysis by global headhunting specialist Unico Search, the number of female executives working at Korea's top 100 companies reached 322 this year, surpassing 300 for the first time. This explains the growing demand for luxury suits among female customers.

Customers who reserve the MTO service can order jackets, shirts, skirts, pants, and coats tailored to their own preferences, and 'evening wear' consisting of tuxedo jackets and pants can also be custom made. It takes about six weeks from order to completion.

The service is available by prior reservation at Giorgio Armani stores in Shinsegae Department Store Main Branch and Gangnam Branch, Galleria EAST, Lotte Department Store Main Branch, and AvenueL World Tower Branch. During the service period, MTO for male customers will also be held simultaneously, and a small gift will be provided.

A Giorgio Armani representative at Shinsegae International said, “Giorgio Armani suits are characterized by comfort that does not restrict the body and a restrained, sophisticated silhouette according to the designer's philosophy, attracting many entrepreneurs and celebrities,” adding, “Recently, inquiries from female entrepreneurs have increased, so we have newly launched a bespoke suit service for women.”
