[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] An incident occurred at a middle school in Jeonju, Jeonbuk, where a male student assaulted a female student using a knuckle duster. A knuckle duster is a metal weapon worn on the fingers, known to be dangerous enough to break roof tiles.

According to MBC's "News Today" on the 7th, a recent incident at a middle school in Jeonju involved a male student brutally assaulting a female student. The male student kicked the victim's abdomen and struck her with a hand wearing a knuckle duster. It is reported that other students were present around the perpetrator at the time. One student shouted, "Hey, stop it."

Due to the assault by the perpetrator, the female victim suffered bruises on her face and various parts of her body, and reportedly lost consciousness briefly due to a concussion.

The knuckle duster used by the perpetrator is a metal weapon worn by inserting it onto the fingers. The hand wearing the knuckle duster is known to have enough power to break roof tiles.

Although it is a weapon dangerous enough to cause fatal injuries to a person, it can be purchased without any restrictions online as a "self-defense weapon."

In fact, when "Asia Economy" searched for "knuckle duster" on internet shopping malls, a considerable number of sellers offering self-defense knuckle dusters were found. Some products even advertised phrases emphasizing their strong destructive power, such as thickness and strength.

Meanwhile, the parents of the victim told this media in an interview, "She is our only daughter," and appealed, "Honestly, I am scared that he (the perpetrator) might retaliate later."

A school official expressed disbelief about this violent incident involving a knuckle duster, saying, "I never imagined something like this," but also stated that due to student human rights issues, there is no way to regulate such weapons through inspections of personal belongings.
