[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] The People Power Party officially appointed Rep. Lee Yong-ho, a native of Honam, as co-chairman of the Central Election Countermeasures Committee, and appointed former Vision Strategy Office Director Kim Geun-sik as head of the Situation Analysis Office of the General Situation Headquarters.
The People Power Party announced this additional personnel appointment plan on the 8th.
Kim Jung-jae and Bae Hyun-jin will serve as policy standing directors under the Policy General Headquarters. Kim Yong-tae, a former lawmaker who supported former Jeju Governor Won Hee-ryong during the primary, was appointed as head of the Policy Planning Headquarters.
Former lawmaker Joo Kwang-deok was appointed as standing strategic advisor, former lawmaker Kim Sung-tae (proportional representative) as IT advisor, and former lawmaker Lee Sang-il, who served as public relations director in the Yoon Seok-yeol campaign, was appointed as head of the External Cooperation Headquarters of the Comprehensive Support General Headquarters.
Additionally, among the committees directly under the Central Election Committee, Rep. Lee Heon-seung was appointed chairman of the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, and Rep. Ryu Seong-geol was appointed chairman of the National Budget Innovation Committee. The COVID-19 Crisis Response Committee, chaired by former Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency Director Jeong Ki-seok, includes eight external members such as Professor Kwon Joon-soo of Seoul National University College of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry.
Meanwhile, on the same day, 147 former diplomats issued a public statement supporting Yoon’s foreign policy. In the statement, they expressed agreement that the inter-Korean relationship, which has deteriorated into a "master-servant relationship," must be normalized, and they actively agreed with the stance of establishing a comprehensive alliance system between South Korea and the United States and participating in the global free democratic coalition.
They added, "Yoon’s foreign policy direction and principles align with the demands consistently made by the 'Association of Former Diplomats Who Love the Country' over the past four and a half years against the Moon Jae-in administration, which is not only appropriate for national interests but also reflects the aspirations of the majority of the people."
