According to the quarantine authorities and local governments including Seoul City, from midnight to 6 PM on this day, a total of 3,631 confirmed cases tested positive for COVID-19 across 17 cities and provinces nationwide.

This is 518 fewer than the nationwide total of 4,149 at 6 PM the previous day, but 1,291 more than the same time on the 1st, a week ago (2,340 cases).

Since there is still time until the midnight cutoff for the tally, the number of new confirmed cases as of 0 AM on the 9th is expected to increase further.

New confirmed cases occurred with 2,399 (66.1%) in the metropolitan area and 1,232 (33.9%) in non-metropolitan areas.
