Gyeongnam 197 Confirmed Cases... Highest Daily Total Ever (Comprehensive)

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jucheol In] As of 5 p.m. on the 8th, Gyeongsangnam-do announced that 197 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported within the province.

By region, there are 44 in Yangsan, 35 in Haman, 34 in Changwon, 25 in Gimhae, 16 in Tongyeong, 10 in Geoje, 12 in Jinju, 5 in Changnyeong, 4 each in Sacheon and Geochang, 2 each in Miryang and Hadong, and 1 each in Goseong, Namhae, Sancheong, and Geochang. Except for one confirmed case in Changwon who is an overseas entrant, all cases are locally transmitted.

Among the 44 confirmed cases in Yangsan, 20 are contacts of confirmed cases within the province, including 13 family members, 6 acquaintances, and 1 contact through movement paths. Two are family members of confirmed cases related to a bathhouse located in Yangsan. The cumulative number of related confirmed cases has increased to 25.

One case is related to a school in Yangsan and tested positive during quarantine. The cumulative number of related confirmed cases is 54. Two cases are family members of confirmed cases in Busan. One case is a contact through movement paths of a confirmed case in Suseong-gu, Daegu. The remaining 18 were tested due to symptom onset or personal request, and their infection routes are under investigation.

Among the 35 confirmed cases in Haman, 12 are related to a bathhouse located in Haman, including users, family members, and contacts. The cumulative number of related confirmed cases has increased to 51. Eight are contacts of confirmed cases within the province, including 7 family members and 1 acquaintance. Eight are coworkers of a confirmed case in Ansan, Gyeonggi-do. The remaining 7 were tested due to symptom onset or personal request, and their infection routes are under investigation.

Among the 34 confirmed cases in Changwon, 20 are contacts of confirmed cases within the province, including 10 family members, 6 acquaintances, 3 contacts through movement paths, and 1 coworker. Twelve were tested due to symptom onset or personal request, and their infection routes are under investigation. One is an acquaintance of a confirmed case in Busan. One is an overseas entrant who tested positive before release from quarantine.

Among the 25 confirmed cases in Gimhae, 17 are contacts of confirmed cases within the province, including 11 family members and 6 acquaintances. Four are contacts of confirmed cases in Busan, including 3 family members and 1 acquaintance. Four were tested due to symptom onset, and their infection routes are under investigation.

Among the 16 confirmed cases in Tongyeong, 13 are contacts of confirmed cases within the province, including 7 acquaintances, 4 family members, and 2 contacts through movement paths. One is an acquaintance of a confirmed case in Busan. Two were tested due to symptom onset, and their infection routes are under investigation.

Among the 12 confirmed cases in Jinju, 6 are contacts of confirmed cases within the province, including 4 coworkers, 1 family member, and 1 acquaintance. One is an acquaintance of a confirmed case in Jeonbuk. Five were tested due to symptom onset or personal request, and their infection routes are under investigation.

Among the 10 confirmed cases in Geoje, 8 are contacts of confirmed cases within the province, including 5 family members, 2 acquaintances, and 1 coworker. One is a contact of a confirmed case in Busan. One was tested due to symptom onset, and their infection route is under investigation.

Among the 5 confirmed cases in Geochang, 4 are family members of confirmed cases within the province. One was tested due to symptom onset, and the infection route is under investigation.

As the number of confirmed cases increases, the bed occupancy rate is also rising sharply.

Gyeongsangnam-do reported that out of 1,254 general beds in the province, 153 are in use, resulting in an occupancy rate of 84%. Additionally, 75 out of 97 beds for severe patients are in use, recording an occupancy rate of 77.3%.
