[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The case involving former Board of Audit and Inspection Chairman Choi Jae-hyung, who was accused of the illegal special recruitment of retired Board of Audit and Inspection personnel, will be investigated by the Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office.
On the 8th, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office announced that it assigned the case, in which the civic group Judicial Justice Citizens' Action (Sasehaeng) filed a complaint against former Chairman Choi on charges of abuse of authority and obstruction of the exercise of rights, to the 6th Criminal Division (Chief Prosecutor Kang Beom-gu).
Earlier, Sasehaeng filed a complaint with the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Division (Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials, CIO) in July, alleging that former Chairman Choi illegally recruited 23 retired Board of Audit and Inspection personnel during his tenure. The CIO transferred the complaint to the prosecution, and the Supreme Prosecutors' Office forwarded the case to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office.
