Seoul Digital Foundation Hosts 'Seoul Data Administration Forum'... Exploring Ways to Advance Data Administrative Services

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Digital Foundation announced on the 9th that it will hold the '2nd Seoul Data Administration Forum.'

This forum was planned as part of the Seoul Digital Foundation's 'Data Literacy Education' project to raise awareness of the necessity of data administration in public organizations and to establish measures for the development of data science administrative services.

Since 2019, the Seoul Digital Foundation has been operating customized data administration education for autonomous districts and investment-funded institutions under Seoul City for three years. This year, education was provided to managers and practitioners from five Seoul City-affiliated institutions: Seoul Metropolitan Government 120 Dasan Call Center Foundation, Seoul Welfare Foundation, Yangcheon District Office, Seoul Urban Regeneration Support Center, and Seoul Metropolitan Youth Activity Promotion Center.

The forum will be conducted in four sessions. The first session, titled 'The Necessity and Reality of Data-Based Administration,' will be presented by Professor Nam Tae-woo from the Department of Public Administration at Sungkyunkwan University. Various agendas such as the training of personnel necessary for data-based administration and recommendations will be discussed in depth. The second session will follow with 'Introduction of Data Administration Education Cases' by students who have completed the Seoul Digital Foundation's data administration education. Practitioners from the Seoul Metropolitan Government 120 Dasan Call Center Foundation and Seoul Welfare Foundation will share their impressions of the education and plans for future application in their work.

The third session, titled 'Achievements and Challenges of Data-Based Administrative Education,' will be presented by Kim Jae-hyun, CEO of Hanbit Partners. The fourth session will conclude with the Seoul Digital Foundation providing an 'Overview of the 2021 Data Administration Education Achievements and 2022 Education Plans.'

The foundation plans to operate data administration education next year. Through this forum, participants can preview the revised education plans, including personalized curriculum restructuring and expansion of practical programs. For inquiries about data administration education, contact the Smart Inclusion Team at the Seoul Digital Foundation. The forum will be broadcast live on the Seoul Digital Foundation's official YouTube channel, and any citizens interested in big data and smart cities can watch it.

Kang Yo-sik, Chairman of the Seoul Digital Foundation, said, "The data administration education conducted by the foundation is a core project that lays the foundation for strengthening the digital and data capabilities of major administrative institutions in Seoul City." He added, "We expect that through this data administration forum, many institutions will recognize the necessity of data-based administration and actively participate in strengthening data technology capabilities and introducing related systems."
