Democratic Party Gwangju Election Committee Sparks 'Election Revolution' with Future-Oriented Campaign

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Democratic Party of Korea’s Gwangju Great Transformation Election Countermeasures Committee, composed of the 2030 youth generation, has launched a future-oriented election campaign nationwide that encompasses eco-friendly elections and metaverse campaigns.

The Democratic Party Gwangju Metropolitan City Party Great Transformation Election Countermeasures Committee announced that it held a full meeting of the Gwangju Great Transformation Election Countermeasures Committee on the 8th at the Seo-gu Kim Dae-jung Convention Center.

About 70 key figures of the Great Transformation Election Committee, including Song Gap-seok, chairman of the Gwangju City Party, and co-chairmen of the election countermeasures committee, attended the meeting.

Before the meeting, an introduction was made of the Yonggwangro Election Committee members, which also included organizations of other candidates who participated in the Democratic Party presidential primary.

In the opening remarks, the election strategy prepared by the co-chairmen of the 2030 youth was revealed.

Chairman Kang Hansol designated ‘Gieonchi,’ the Jeolla dialect of ‘Gipilko’ (meaning ‘by all means’), as the nickname and slogan of the election countermeasures committee.

Adding ‘Gieonchi’ to candidate Lee Jae-myung’s slogan ‘Hamida’ (meaning ‘We will do it’), they expressed the determination to fulfill the mission that the people desire ‘by all means’ in the language and culture of Gwangju.

Chairman Kim Tae-jin will conduct an empathy tour by foot throughout Gwangju during the election period. All co-chairmen will meet citizens directly with the mindset of being candidate Lee Jae-myung, listening to various criticisms and harsh words.

Chairwoman Song Nayoung runs a ‘Green Camp’ in the election committee to normalize the use of electronic documents and personal cups for low carbon and eco-friendliness, while Chairwoman Jeong Daeun operates an ‘Open Election Committee’ such as the Out-of-the-Box Labor Committee, the 3040 Daddy Committee, and the May Spirit Must Be Established Committee, which do not miss even the smallest voices.

Chairwoman Chae Eunji introduces ‘Lee Jae-myung’s Myungtaverse,’ a virtual election office using the metaverse.

This was inspired by U.S. President Joe Biden, who during his candidacy created ‘Biden Island’ within Nintendo’s popular game ‘Animal Crossing’ and set up an election camp, gaining positive responses.

Co-chairman Song Gap-seok emphasized, “Gwangju was the first to organize a local election committee composed of 2030 youth, presenting answers to the questions of the era as the heart of the Democratic Party and the stronghold of democracy. This became the first opportunity to show that the leading force of the Gwangju election committee is youth. Let us all unite and turn the spark of regime re-creation into a torch.”

He also said, “I am convinced this election is a confrontation between the past and the future. The People Power Party is blinded by revenge and only harsh words are rampant. In particular, I ask Chairman Kim Jong-in, who knelt down to his knees at the Gwangju May 18th Cemetery, will you stand by and watch while election committee member Noh Jae-seung continues to make outrageous remarks about May 18th?”
